In-Person Worship Service
Effective Immediately: No reservations required for indoor worship
This whole year has been trial and error and I thank everyone for their patience and feedback. Immediate responses to the survey indicate that making reservations has been a barrier to people attending indoor worship. Mostly people’s weekend plans are uncertain, and they are hesitant to sign up or commit so far in advance. I constantly monitor CDC and IDH recommendations and it is now unlikely that we would go over our capacity limit at the church, making reservations unnecessary. Sign ups are still available for assisting ministers, greeters, and acolytes on sign up genius.
To view past services please click here or go to the Sermon page on the Website under Resources.
Drive In Worship
On Sundays at 9:30 a.m. (weather permitting).
Pile the family in the car, drive to the church, and tune the radio to 101.3 FM where we will be broadcasting.
The FM transmitter only has a limited mile radius, so you’ll have to be gathered at the church to hear. So even if it is chilly, you can stay in your car. If you'd like to sit outside, that OK too. For best audio, I'd recommend bringing a little battery powered radio if you have one to listen.
If anyone would like to volunteer to set-up and break-down for this service or help people park, please contact Sue in the office. This service will take a village to pull off!

Dear Salem Lutheran Church Members,
It is my pleasure to invite you to a special congregation meeting on June 6 at 7:00 pm via Zoom and telephone conference to appoint a Call Committee for our Associate Pastor search.
At the annual meetings in both 2020 and 2021 we voted to include an Associate Pastor in our budget as part of our staffing plans in the wake of the retirement of Ron Vanatta, our organist, and Deacon Carla Vanatta, who served as both a music program director and partner in pastoral care in her decades of service. Since their retirement in August of 2020, the congregation has been staffed by only two full-time staff persons, Pastor Preston and Sue McMillan, and three part-time employees, Lynn Buckner, Connie Brown, and Nicole Judkins. As we look toward a future of returning to full programming and further growth, it is imperative that we start the search for an Associate Pastor now.
According to Salem’s constitution:
C.13.05. When a vacancy occurs in a position for which this congregation calls a rostered minister, a Call Committee of six voting members shall be elected by this Congregation.
We will need a quorum of 50 voting members to elect the Call Committee, so please make every effort to attend. The Constitution allows for electronic voting in the case of a Call Committee. Those calling in will be asked to make their intentions known by telephone, they may privately call or text the tellers. A full list of those seeking election to the Call Committee will be presented as soon as the slate is completed.
Please accept this as your notice of the special meeting and we look forward to your participation.
Your servant in Christ,
Pastor Preston Fields

Those in need of Pastoral Care have two new options:
1) Call Sue during business hours at the Salem Office
2) Call or Text Salem's new Pastoral Care Line at 815-797-2441. Currently, this Google Voice number will call or text Pastor Preston's cell phone after hours. It may ask you to state your name before the call is connected, this will help weed out spam phone calls.
In the future, this one number will ring/text either Pastor Preston's or our future Associate Pastor's cell phone depending who is on call for the evening.
Non-emergency prayer requests may also be emailed to Pastor or at the Salem@slcsycamore.org address.
