“Vieuxtemps Returns:

An Homage to Salem’s Heritage”

Henri Vieuxtemps was a famous French violinist who toured in America and happened to meet Swedish soprano Christina Nilsson in Chicago.

Nilsson had family ties to Salem and invited Vieuxtemps to perform with her for the  benefit of the congregation. They raised thousands of dollars (in today’s currency) for the construction of a new church building.

On February 9, 2020, Salem will be honoring this historic moment by            recreating the program that was played by Vieuxtemps and Nilsson featuring Salem’s own violinist, Owen Ruff.

A Free-Will Offering will be Taken.
