Change of Plan
Hello everyone: Due to the lack of rain all summer, the Rock River does not have enough water to run a boat, so we are going to plan B. We will be going to the Heritage Farm Museum located in the Byron Forest Preserve in Byron, IL. Since this was our October trip, we will do something different that month. It might be possible to go on the Boat trip in October according to Maxson’s, but I’m not holding my breath, so I will have option B as a back-up plan to be determined.
We will still be carpooling from Salem at 10:00 A.M. as planned on Friday, September 29th. I’m keeping the time the same for simplicity. After the tour, we will stop for a bite to eat at a restaurant in Monroe Center on our way back.
We may have a guided tour, but have not heard back yet on that. If we have a guided tour, there will be an admission fee. If not, we will do the self guided tour. According to the people at the Byron Forest Preserve, there are three buildings that we can tour. They are close together and parking is not far away, so there is not a lot of walking but there will be some.
Please let me know if you are going to attend this event, so I will know who to expect at church and for the number of driver’s we will need. Also, if you are willing to drive, let me know, so I can have the correct number of vehicles.
There will be a new sign up sheet at church in the narthex this weekend too. Thank you for being flexible, and I’m hoping that this will be a great trip as well.
Watch for an upcoming November event to be held at Salem with Sgt. Stacey Binkowski from the Sycamore Police Department on public safety within our community. This event will be open to all the members of Salem and anyone else you would like to invite.
Steve can be contacted at:
Email: slatimer.mail4u2@gmail.com
Phone: 815-761-4813, texting works best during daytime hours, or one can call after 5:00 P.M. That’s the most likely time I will be available to talk for more than a few seconds.
Thank you, and Peace be with everyone, Steven Latimer.
