This year we will be partnering with First Lutheran Church and Bethlehem Lutheran to bring Sunday School to your home via Zoom and other resources. The Sunday School lessons will be based on the readings for each Sunday. These sessions will mostly take place at 10 am with the exception of a few Sundays with special events (i.e. confirmation). Any time changes will be communicated with you via email from Deb Farnsworth, the Director of Christian Ed. at First Lutheran. Sunday School will begin on Sunday, September 13.
This curriculum is best for children up to 5th Grade. If any middle school students would like to participate in a Sunday School experience, please register and Pastor will be in contact.
We understand that for some children, Zoom Sunday School will simply not work. We understand and are happy to offer a weekly "family devotional" set for any family interested to be used Sundays or whenever is convenient. These weekly packets will include 1) The Sparks Bible story for the week,; 2) Any kids' digital video content for the week; 3) Coloring pages; 4) a special weekly prayer'; 5) and other resources relevant to the week's theme. These digital packets will be prepared with pre-readers in mind, since age/attention on zoom is mostly challenging for these young people.
Finally, if you have friends or family who would like to join us, please forward the email with a link to this form. They are welcome. Whether you'll be attending zoom or just using the family devotional, please fill out this form to register your child for Sunday School.
Salem Sunday School offers Sunday morning Christian education to 3-year old Beginners through 8th grade during the school year.
Online until further notice. Sunday School classes start weekly at 9:15 a.m. Beginners through 5th graders meet as a large group in Fellowship Hall to enjoy singing, hearing the week's Bible story, praying, and rehearsing for the Christmas Program. The classes then head to their classrooms for lessons and activities. The 6th/7th/8th graders meet at 9:15 am in their classroom.
Rally Day kicks off the new Sunday School year each fall with registration where you can meet the teachers and find out how you can help as a parent or guardian.
Children are encouraged to share an offering of a needed item from the Salem's Food Pantry needs list on the first Sunday of each month.
Salem Sunday School students participate in worship during our Grace Services held on the 3rd Sunday of each month October-May
This is the curriculum for our 6th/7th/8th grade Sunday School class! All 6th/7th/8th grade students are welcome in this class meeting Sunday mornings 9:15 am – 10:15 am September 16, 2018 to May 2019.
This curriculum starts at the beginning of the Bible and moves through to the early church using a video clip and sketch journals each week along with the Bible.
We're always looking for good teachers who are inspired to serve our young people. A screening check is required of all teachers and staff.
Children are always welcome at worship. However, if needed, there is a staffed nursery available (Sunday mornings) in the upper hallway just past the sofa lounge area.
Katy Kingren, Nursery Director, and our nursery attendants Krysten Jones, Jesse Gfrorer, and Luke Martin would love to meet your infant, toddler, or child under 5. Nursery staff wear yellow Shining Star t-shirts for easy identification.
